In 2011, Meruelo Media affiliate acquired KWHY-TV in Los Angeles, one of the oldest independent Spanish-language television stations in the U.S. This begun the formation of one of the fastest growing Media companies in the country. In 2012, Meruelo formed its Media Group and added the cable channel, Super 22 to its growing media assets. In 2014, Meruelo Media added radio to its media portfolio with the acquisition of legendary FM radio station KDAY 93.5 in Los Angeles and then KDEY in San Bernardino-Riverside, California. That same year it completed construction of the new Meruelo Broadcast and Studios Center in mid-Wilshire, Los Angeles, which is used for various television productions and commercial filming. In 2017, it expanded its television operations with the acquisition of the full power must carry Los Angeles TV station KBEH channel 63.
